_module_preset=&#8221;21a2729f-528b-4554-ab14-3baa252328a8&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"423\" data-end=\"514\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Many people live with persistent physical symptoms for years without finding clear answers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"516\" data-end=\"702\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">They visit doctors, undergo tests, try medications or therapies, yet their body continues to experience pain, fatigue, digestive issues, headaches, anxiety or other distressing symptoms.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"704\" data-end=\"815\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Often the tests come back <strong data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"740\">normal<\/strong>, leaving people feeling confused, frustrated, or even doubting themselves.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"817\" data-end=\"840\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">You may have been told:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"938\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 \u201cThere is nothing medically wrong.\u201d<br data-start=\"879\" data-end=\"882\" \/>\u2022 \u201cYour tests look fine.\u201d<br data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"910\" \/>\u2022 \u201cIt might just be stress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"940\" data-end=\"971\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yet the symptoms are very real.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"973\" data-end=\"1059\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your body hurts.<br data-start=\"989\" data-end=\"992\" \/>You feel exhausted.<br data-start=\"1011\" data-end=\"1014\" \/>Something in your system clearly isn\u2019t right.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1061\" data-end=\"1271\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">For many people, these experiences are connected to what is known as <strong data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1152\">mind-body symptoms. <\/strong>Physical symptoms influenced by the brain, nervous system and the long-term effects of stress or trauma on the body.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1273\" data-end=\"1339\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">This does <strong data-start=\"1283\" data-end=\"1290\">not<\/strong> mean the symptoms are imagined or psychological.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1341\" data-end=\"1462\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mind-body symptoms are <strong data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1393\">real physical experiences<\/strong> created through protective patterns in the brain and nervous system.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1583\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The encouraging news is that when we understand how these patterns work, the body also has the capacity to change them.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1585\" data-end=\"1645\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">And when those patterns change, <strong data-start=\"1617\" data-end=\"1645\">symptoms can change too.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=&#8221;https:\/\/fromchronicpaintowellness.com\/about&#8221; it&#8217;s a deeply personal experience, often woven with memories, emotions, and daily challenges. My approach to addressing chronic pain is deeply personal, informed by both lived experience and professional expertise. Our nervous system constantly monitors the environment and our internal state, adjusting the body\u2019s responses to help us survive and adapt.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"980\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">When life involves prolonged stress, unresolved emotional experiences or trauma, the nervous system can remain in a state of <strong data-start=\"943\" data-end=\"979\">chronic activation or protection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"982\" data-end=\"1174\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over time this accumulated stress places a burden on the body known as <strong data-start=\"1053\" data-end=\"1072\">allostatic load<\/strong> \u2014 the wear and tear created when the nervous system and stress systems remain activated for too long.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1176\" data-end=\"1329\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">When this happens, the body may begin to express distress through physical symptoms such as pain, fatigue, digestive issues or other functional symptoms.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1488\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Somatics and trauma-informed practices help restore regulation by supporting:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1490\" data-end=\"1688\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 awareness of bodily sensations (interoception)<br data-start=\"1538\" data-end=\"1541\" \/>\u2022 the ability to notice and process emotions safely<br data-start=\"1592\" data-end=\"1595\" \/>\u2022 the release of chronic tension patterns<br data-start=\"1636\" data-end=\"1639\" \/>\u2022 the return of flexibility in the nervous system<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1690\" data-end=\"1857\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">As we gently rebuild this relationship with the body, the nervous system can begin to shift out of survival patterns and return toward states of safety and regulation. When we face challenges, the nervous system activates a cascade of biological responses that help us survive, increasing energy, sharpening attention and preparing the body for action.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"856\" data-end=\"969\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">But when stress becomes <strong data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"919\">chronic, overwhelming or unresolved<\/strong>, these systems can remain activated for too long &#8211; even if you don&#8217;t realise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"1037\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over time, this can place a heavy burden on the body\u2019s physiology.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1039\" data-end=\"1194\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Research into the <strong data-start=\"1057\" data-end=\"1078\">biology of trauma<\/strong>, including the amazing work of Dr Aimie Apigian, shows that long-term stress can affect many biological systems, including:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1196\" data-end=\"1325\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 immune function<br data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1216\" \/>\u2022 inflammation<br data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1233\" \/>\u2022 digestion and the gut\u2013brain connection<br data-start=\"1273\" data-end=\"1276\" \/>\u2022 hormonal balance<br data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1297\" \/>\u2022 cellular energy production<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"1906\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chronic stress and overwelm can also affect how the brain processes signals from the body. Areas of the brain involved in <strong data-start=\"1939\" data-end=\"2001\">threat detection, emotional processing and pain perception<\/strong> can become more sensitive, meaning the brain becomes quicker to interpret sensations as danger.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"1906\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">When this happens, the brain may generate or amplify symptoms such as pain, fatigue, digestive issues or other physical sensations as part of its protective response.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2267\" data-end=\"2305\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">This does not mean the body is broken. I didn&#8217;t know what to expect, didn&#8217;t know what exactly somatic embodiment is and what a class like that entails. I had some experience of somatic exercise therapy but Sara&#8217;s class was different. It really made me take time for myself, come out of my head and really tune in to my body. I had been suffering from aches and pains for some time and I felt uncomfortable initially but I just tuned in to my body and allowed my body to talk to me and soften.
